Thanks Chester,
Specifically thanks for verifying that there is no real method of picking new pics. I have been doing my searches that same as you, brute force, going through hundreds of pages. The problem is that it will soon change to thousands. It is the best place to find pics.
That is a nice and organized linked page, did give me some good ideas and a few more search terms.

By Chester - sgroi@spamcop.net Wed 14/06/06 02:11:44 GMT Website: http://waterclothes.com/shared/webshots.txt Sadly Webshots has not yet implemented a "newest to oldest" search feature unlike Flickr.com's tags which can be sorted by "newest" or "most interesting."
But what I can say regarding webshots is that some of the best photos I've discovered were NOT lableed anything like wet clothes, swimming fully clothed, or thrown in pool. Instead, I just use single word searches such as:
swim
pool
baptism
and then just spend a little time each day going through the HUGE amount of web pages that feature photos with this term.
NOTE: It is just enough to enter 'swim' as webshots will add word variants/plural on its own (e.g. swimming, baptisms).
When you complete a search for the day be sure to copy the URL of the current thumbnail page (not the large photos) somewhere so you can resume the seach the next day where you have previously left off.
At the folliwng link, you can take a peek into such a file (can you tell I'm obsessed). The * at the end of a URL means I've found all pages with that search term but webshots being webshots, more does get added. :)

Paying for the service for a premium account ($29.95 per year) does NOT improve your search capability. It only removes the annoying pop-ups and ads along the side and gives you, the account holder, more space to store your pics.
I have suggested an improved search feature to Webshots but so far its not has not been a go. :-(
Still, they got some of the BEST material out there although Flickr.com comes in a very close second.
Hope this helps!

By klm4748 - Wed 14/06/06 01:28:55 GMT I used to save a lot of Webshots pictures, and I noticed the first digit of the file 'names' (if you can call that mess a name) going up over time. They might start with 6 or 7 now. It's not a perfect rule, since things that are new to me sometimes show up under 1, but maybe you can avoid repeats by only posting 6's? |
In reply to Message (22994) Searching Webshots Question
By Andrew - andprinter@hotmail.com Tue 13/06/06 17:19:58 GMT I was just wondering if anyone can give me (and everyone else too) some advice on searching webshots or other photo sites. How do you know which pics are new? Do you have to go through thousands of pics searching for the new ones or is there a way to sort them by posting date? Any help would be appreciated since I think I'm wasting alot of time looking through old pictures.
