Funny you should mention Oakbrook Mall. I've never messed in the fountains there, and have never seen anybody in the fountains there. But a friend of mine did after a Prom dinner once, back in High School. I don't know much about the event, I think it wasn't much more than wading ankle deep, but I was jealous. Too bad my girlfriend and I didn't double with them that night. This was back around 1971.
I wish one of these casinos in Aurora or Joliet would put in a fountain. That might be a crowd that might get crazy. |

By Anonymous - Tue 09/05/06 21:50:31 GMT avoid buckingham fountain (police patrol). in the chicago area, though, wading or such in the lake proper might be feasible on days the authorities declared it safe. by north ave. and similar areas, this shouldn't be a problem. however, sometimes it's closed off due to high bacteria levels.
best bet might be a suburban outdoor mall, like oak brook, for instance (near i-290 and rt 83, or i-88 and spring road). not sure how many people you'll find frolicking, though. not so much a public fountain culture as you'd find in trafalgar or trocadero, for example.

By RoscoeBC - Tue 09/05/06 04:53:38 GMT Anybody know of a fountain or club where people (some around 50 years old) get wet in Chicago or the suburbs? No way the wife will go in if we are the only ones, but if there is a fountain people go in regularly, maybe. Maybe a few of us could meet there? |
