I imagine it would not be any problem for Nigel to put it to work. I agree that 3 to 4 pings should be just about right. "Enhancement" is the perfect term.

Once identified as a "reported" post, replies to that post could then be disabled as well.

What many people may not realize is that he has a life & can't sit at the computer hitting "Refresh" all day (and night) looking for issues.

For all we know, he may have something already in mind.

I've seen a "report this post" feature on other forum systems.

To clarify your idea: perhaps if a post is reported by say, 3 or 4 unique IPs, that would trigger a status change to "reported" and an email to Nigel. Great idea.

Compared to some of the other features he's built into this forum, I should think it would be a relatively simple enhancement.

I let him know (via email) about some spam last week and he jumped right on it!

Maybe, in some future code upgrade, Nigel will consider adding a "Report This Post" button to click. That could then initiate an email alert to him. (Maybe folks won't mis-use it!!)

To keep from being deluged, the button could then change to "Reported" and be non-clickable when future viewers open the post. A small database could also be used to keep a threshold of reports that would need to be issued prior to alerting him. I've worked with similar code in PHP on x'nix servers, but don't do anything on Microsoft server software.

A click of the button could also include the name and IP address of the reporter in the message he receives.

Posting copmplaints on this forum about the SPAM that's polluted it lately will have far less effect than e-mailing Nigel directly.

There is a place at the top of the Forum page where you can do that - just click whre it says "Nigel at Minx Movies "

and tell him what's going on. THEN he'll get the word a lot faster, and he'll delete the SPAM.
