My thoughts are with you and your father, Desert Hawk. I hope all goes well in surgery and both parents hang in there for a while longer. But please, be realistic, nobody lasts forever. It's not likely your parents will outlast you. I'm thinking if you are feeling that alone, you need some supportive friends, we all do. If you haven't got friends to lean on when the inevitable eventually comes to pass, you may want to consider joining a church or club or doing some volunteer work someplace just to broaden your support network. You can't have too much emotional support.

These are sad times for me. My dad, almost 80 years old, broke and dislocated his hip. He is in the hospital and will be operated on either tomorrow or the next day. He had a very bad stroke 14 years ago and lost most of the use of the right side of his body and has not walked well since then. 10 days ago he fell. We don't know if the fall caused the break/dislocation, or if it broke due to some other casue and that is what caused him to fall. My mother is 79 and I still live with them (I am 36). I am single and an only child, and all other relatives (who I don't know very well anyway) live in Missouri (we live in California). If my father dies, then I am 1/2 way to being all alone in the world! NOT a nice feeling! I sure hope that this operation fixes the problem and he is able to walk again. Longevity does run in my family. His uncle lived to be 100. 3-4 days in the hospital and 1 - 1 1/2 months in a rehabilitation clinic is certainly better than 20 years in a nursing home. However, all surgery is risky. Please pray for my dad's safe operation and swift recovery. I can't afford to lose him!
