George Jones is still going strong. I think he is the longest continuously performing act in all forms of popular music. He has been making hits since the 50's, and still releases new songs. I think the second longest running musical act (of all music types) is the Rolling Stones. Possibly the longest running musical act of all time was (is?) blues artist John Lee Hooker. For every half century act, there are dozens of one hit wonders. |

By billybadger - billybear000@yahoo.com Sat 01/04/06 10:55:29 GMT We also have George Jones, and Johnny Cash in our Hearts and minds. As Buck Owens in the corn field would say, " Bells Tennessee Population 2,171 Salute!".......... Him and Roy Clark kicking some ass on Hee Haw! |

By Doug Dress2Splash - dress2splash@hotmail.com Fri 31/03/06 19:09:03 GMT This is a sad time for American Music. Of that there is no doubt.
Thank God we still have Merle Haggard [check out "That's The News"].
