I've noticed over here inplaces like Bournemouth, if you see Thai girls on the beach there, they always go wading in whatever clothes they have on, I've not seen one Thai girl with a swimsuit on here,
This is a great place for wetlook lovers, yet you moaning old grannies saying stuff like "Why do they ruin their clothes?"
They may get strange looks, but they don't care
Long live wetlook

By Spongebob - spongebobwetlook@hotmail.com Wed 08/03/06 13:41:22 GMT I know Thailand quite well, lived there half a year. The reason that they don't wear bikini's or just bathing suits is just a cultural issue, they are afraid to show their body, the Thai think it's not polite. They are afraid to loose face.
The last few years you can see that the Thai people are changing their minds because you see them wearing more and more western bathingsuits like bikini's. Even in Thailand their is a dominant western influence. Especially the young and fashion minded Thai you will see more and more in bikini's. Just a manner of time. Of course their will be big regional differences in thinking about this issue! |

By Victor - victor.ivanovich@mail.ru Wed 08/03/06 13:02:54 GMT I've recently come across a discussion on some travellers' forum. The subject of the discussion was "Why do they swim clothed in Thailand?". There were many trivial thoughts and ideas, but one of the participants of the discussion wrote something interesting. He said that: 1)They swim clothed at seaside towns, but they use swimming costumes on small islands. 2)He had seen some pictures of Thai beaches taken in the early 60-s and all the local people were wearing bathing suits. So, if this information is correct (and I think that some people on this forum can say if it is or not) we can come to the following conclusions: 1)They wore ordinary swimming costumes, but they are out of fashion now. 2)People who live on small islands are a little behind the times.
What do you know of it? What do you think of it?
