Did anyone see the Thomas Hardy film ‘Under the Greenwood Tree’on UK ITV1 yesterday? Towards the end there is a brilliant scene in which Keeley Hawes, playing Fancy Day, taunts her sweetheart who, wearing tight long pants, is wading in a stream, fishing. Wearing a long period dress, she wades into the stream up to knee deep and then, as she and Dick embrace, falls backwards into the water. The only disappointment is there are no lingering shots of them in the water or of them getting out – such a pity!
