Yes,it does. I have a plasma HDTV.  That's similar to the picture I get with HD programming.  HDTV uses the full spectrum of colors, while NTSC, PAL, and SECAM only use red, green, and blue.  Plus the motion with HDTV appears natural.  NTSC is 30 still pictures per second.  Now all we have to do is wait for wetlook videos to start being produced in HDTV Wink Smile

Thanks very much.  Using Internet Explorer instead of AOL's built-in browser allowed me to see high res pics.  I lookede at two of the pictures of Stign's girlfriend from the message below (it takes about 3-4 minutes for one picture to fully appear, so I don't have time to look at the whole set).  WOW!  I could even clearly see the details of the threads at the bottom of her t-shirt, and tiny water droplets on the tile behind her and the sides of the tub.  So my computer and monitor are capable of displaying high res, it's AOL's browser that defaults to "Electric Avenue mode".  Is this what high-definition tv looks like? If so, it is a whole lot better than NTSC.

Sometimes I don't have access to broadband or wireless so I need to use AOL dial-up service.  I have the same problem with resolution on AOL dial-up service ( not only that, AOL only wants to store pics in .bmp and .art ).  Here's how I get around both problems:  I sign on with the AOL screen and I close all of the unnecessary AOL windows.  Then I minimize the AOL screen.  After that's done, simply open Internet Explorer and you can view all of the pics in hi-res.
In reply to Message (19586) Hello computer question: why won't high res pics display properly?

Anytime I try to look at any high res picture (anything bigger than approx. 1000X1000 pixels), it looks like crap on my screen.  The image pixellates and looks like that old "Electric Avenue" video by Eddie Grant.  When I used to use the internet at the library (yes folks, I am the "banned at the library" guy, and the library in question is the Kern County Library), high res pictures always displayed properly.  I have a Compaq Presario SR1500NX computer with 256 megs of RAM and an 80 gig hard drive.  My monitor is an Envision flat screen, not sure of the model.  Did I buy a computer with weak video capability?  Is this monitor low res?   Is high res impossible with dial up?  Is there some setting I could adjust to make high res pictures display properly (I know almost no computer tech stuff).
