Numerous fond memories of "The Two Ronnies" tv show in the early 70's, and then Ronnie Barker's great comedy series OPEN ALL HOURS (with David Jason) and of course PORRIDGE. Ronnie Barker was also a writer (under the pen name Gerald Wiley) on numerous other shows too.
The newsdesk jokes were always corny....but well received....e.g
"Reports today that vandals have damaged a fence at a nudist camp -- the police are looking into it"
but I always liked his catch phrase from Porridge....
"Don't let the buggers grind you down"
cos thats the way I live my life too.

By wettiger - Wed 05/10/05 05:41:08 GMT Then of course there was the joke:: After a collision between a concrete mixer and a prison van police are looking for a bunch of hardened criminals. |

In reply to Message (18588.5) My favourite Ronnie Barker Joke? (please read)
By wettiger - Wed 05/10/05 00:23:03 GMT Mine is:
Police today reported that all the toilets from their police station have been stolen. In a statement they added: "At this time we have nothing to go on"
What's yours? |
In reply to Message (18588) and there's the third.
By Ashman - Tue 04/10/05 16:17:40 GMT Someone mentioned last week that deaths of celebrities seems to happen in threes. After Gilligan and Don Adams we wondered who the third would be. I guess Ronnie Barker was it. '...and it's goodnight from him'. |
