Thanks for the hint! I went to see the Wasserspielplatz (water playground) yesterday, but that is only something for kids who are less than 10 years old! Also not very large.

I also went to see the Alte Donau, very clean water, but looks like unaccessible unless you hire a boat or go into an official swimming pool.

In my past experiences, Vienna has always been beautiful, but not really wetlook-friendly. Last year though, I heard they opened a "wasserspielplatz" (how to translate it?) which is the biggest in Europe. I haven't been in Vienna this two summers to check it out, but it is probably worth a visit. It is located on the Donauinsel not far from the U1 station (here is a map that shows the exact location: http://www.wien.gv.at/ma53/rkfoto/2004/739g.jpg - the related document says: "Umweltstadträtin Mag. Ulli Sima eröffnet am Freitag, dem 9. Juli 2004, um 10.30 Uhr Europas größten Wasserspielplatz auf der Donauinsel. Hier können Kinder jeden Alters ungefährdet mit dem Element Wasser spielen, z.B. Bäche aufstauen und umleiten, in den Teichen neue Uferbereiche und Buchten errichten, etc. So können Kinder spielerisch die Eigenschaften des Wassers kennen lernen und sich auch mit dem Gebrauch von Wasser mittels Technik vertraut machen. Der Wasserspielplatz liegt auf der Donauinsel stromab der Reichsbrücke und schließt auf rund 5.000 Quadratmetern auch das bestehende Biotop mit ein.")

Hi, I just arrived in Vienna, and it is quite hot today. Are there any places for wetlook in the city, any fountains or so? The Danube river is pretty muddy today, probably due to flooding in southern Germany last week.

Hallo, ich bin gerade das erste Mal in Wien. Wo gibt es hier Brunnen, wo man baden kann, irgendwo in der Stadt? Oder in der Alten Donau? Die Donau selbst ist etwas schlammig heute, muss wohl am Hochwasser liegen.

Würde mich über Antworten sehr freuen!
