Was this a color episode (1967 to 1975) or a black & white episode (1955 to 1966)....cos I do not recall seeing anything like this in Gunsmoke.

There are a couple of similar scenes to this in other western series, HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL and THE BIG VALLEY (with Linda Evans falling in the lake).

The 2 best scenes of this nature from 60's westerns tv are in one episode of BONANZA there is a great scene where a mexican lady goes in the lake in a nice clingy white blouse and skirt. The most awesomely well done scene of this nature is in one episode of THE VIRGINIAN where guest star Carol Lynley is teasing her boyfriend by the lake and then she shocks him by wading into the lake in her blouse & skirt and black stockings and swimming fully clothed. It took me years to finally track down a copy of that scene.

One should not ignore these old Westerns tv stations, cos some of them yield some great scene that most of us never new existed....e.g. last week I was taping the Westerns Channel and they were showing this very old Gene Autry cowboy film from 1948 called LOADED PISTOLS, and in this film Gene gets mad at his girl so he picks her up and carries her to the lake and throws her in....some nice wet jeans shots as she climbs out.

ps....back to the original thread about girls being thrown into water troughs in dresses....I just remembered 2 more notable scenes

1) There is a VERY nice LONG scene of this nature in the 1960 cowboy movie COMANCHE STATION....where actress Nancy Gates is under attack by indians, so Randolph Scott throws her into the water trough to hide...and we get about 4 minutes of shots of Nancy in the water trough constantly ducking underwater every time the indians attack..and then Randolph Scott pulls her out of water and we get lots of aftermath shots...

2) There is only ONE wet scene in the ENTIRE series of THE HIGH CHAPPARAL.....but it is a good one. In one episode, they are under attack (by indians again) and burning arrow lands at the feet of actress Linda Cristal, and the bottom of her dress catches fire, so they quickly throw her into the water trough...and you get some great shots of her climbing out too.

Not sure which episode. I was flipping channels and came across Gunsmoke where a guy and girl was having a picnic lakeside. Don't think they were regulars, or if so maybe later episodes. Just though, "this might be interesting" since they were sitting very close to the lake's edge. Girl was wearing a blue and white calico (?) dress. Sure enough, she jumped up to hug him and they tumbled into the lake and went underwater. They came up with her hugging and kissing him and she drug him under again. Some very nice wet dress shots and her dress floating dress shots. What a scene, I was taken totally by surprise. Not recording it, so missed that. Anybody else see this scene and know what episode, etc.?

Just to let you know I finally found "the needle in a haystack" this weekend (trying to find one scene of out 640 episodes of Gunsmoke is not an easy task)

This is the scene in question...as per the stills on your site

If you recall, several people were saying that this came from a late 60's color episode of Gunsmoke, and I said that this did not make sense...cos Miss Kitty looked too "young" for that to have been a late 60's color epsiode, and was more likely one of the early 60's b&w episodes. We were also thrown a "red herring" by the 2 articles that said this was an episode called "Saturday Night" from 1967, and I found that episode and no such scene existed...so then it became clearer that the phrase "Saturday Night" referred to the fact that Gunsmoke always use to air on Saturday nights. That left us with no clues as to where this Miss Kitty dunking episode came from.

Luckily I had a stroke of luck this week, cos Encore Channel were doing a marathon of Gunsmoke epsiodes, and I left the vcr running all day....and by sheer luck, I not only caught this scene, but ANOTHER horse trough dunking on ANOTHER episode too.

Anyway..the Miss Kitty scene was just as I suspected...an early 60's 1962 episode called THE WIDOW...and it's a great scene...much much better then the McClintock horse trough scene...cos Miss Kitty is seen wet for quite a long time, and she wears stockings with her dress too. The bonus scene I captured quite by accident, was that on a different episode of Gunsmoke also from 1962 was an even nice scene where actress Sue Anne Langdon gets pushed into the horse trough in her dress...this scene is more like the famous Linda Darnell horse trough dunking scene from John Ford's classic western MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (1949).

Anyway....you can update your site info on this Miss Kitty scene, now that we know what it is. I know you trade with Roger at Aquantics, and Roger and I have been collecting lots of classic wet scenes featured on your site (i.e. TELL IT TO THE JUDGE is a classic wet stocking scenes we recently acquired, and we now have the long lost very rare Mary Martin movie wet scene too). I will add this to the next DVD I sent Roger and he will pass it along to you in due course.

Still no clues though on your biggest "mystery pic"....still trying to find out what movie that comes from.

ps...do you have the bandwidth for hosting some video clips on your site....cos maybe in future I can upload via ftp to your server some of these rare clips for vintage wet fans to see.
