Maybe you are right. I just think that it was “reserved” for the coach or the winner to be thrown in.

There are other possibilities: She could have promished her daughter to swim fully clothed if she won a race or something.

Well that depends...

If she had promised amything she may hhave brought changing clothes. Remark she even wear shoes or boots. Or she would have to go home soaking wet.

And this leads to a more fundamental queation: When the coach are thrown in. Are they prepared or do they go home in wet clothes?
