I dunno... I grew up in the 80's and thought the fashions were awful then and looking through my high school yearbook they look even more awful now. Yeah, there were some cool outfits and ideas, but the average clothes were just dumb-looking to me. And what was up with the make-up? Six inches thick, piled on with all that hairspray (that, when wet, would roll into your mouth and taste disgusting). And those layered haircuts for girls and mullets being widely accepted for guys... Maybe the wetlook shows were more frequent and better filmed (I grew up watching them too) but red pleather jacket with 85 fake-zippered pockets needs to be buried deep in the grave of Aquanet, Cindy Lauper and the pmrc's anti-rock crusade. Let the 80's die (after all the sorting of good wetlook scenes is complete, of course. Just another opinion. -bryce |

In reply to Message (1781) Wetlook on TV
By Mike - Mon 13/01/03 14:36:35 GMT I was flipping through the channels the other day and came across MacGyver on TVLand. It turns out it was, in my opinion, the best wetlook episode of the series. It had Robin Curtis getting wet twice in her skin tight jeans. First from a bus and then later in a river. Now the question. Which era had the best wetlook? My vote is for the 80's, no contest. If you look back at all the great tv from that decade, there were a lot of tv shows that featured wetlook. Gee, where to begin. Of course MacGyver had a lot. Then there is Remington Steele, The Fall Guy, Knight Rider, Dallas, Knots Landing, Dukes Of Hazzard and I am sure there are more. What shows since then have showed wetlook on a regular basis? Besides Baywatch, I sure can't think of any. All we need now are for thoes shows to come back on. |
