There seems to be a flaw in the underlying forum system -- showc.cgi executes far faster than next.asp. showc is invoked when clicking a post from the message list; next.asp is invoked when you click Previous or Next while viewing a post. I assume that next.asp handles all the logic of actually determining which the previous and next posts are from the database, whereas showc.cgi appears to neither know nor care.
Which means that if you keep the active message list open, and (in Firefox!) middle-click links to open posts and close the tabs when done, it will run a HUGE amount faster than if you ever hope for Previous and Next to do anything. If you install and activate the FLST (Focus Last Selected Tab) Firefox extension, closing the post tab will take you right back to the active message list tab, so the process is bearable. (FLST's operation can be toggled with F9 for when you don't want it doing this; it's a really cool extension!)
It would appear that a bit of reworking of the underlying code might ease some of the effort taken to navigate the site. As with any popular site, the nature of the code itself can have considerable impact. Someone also ought to move the attributes of "<hr size=1 width=25% align=left>" to CSS and replace the likes of " " (EESH!) with <ul>/<li> :)

Is anyone else getting connection issues to the site post improvements?? I wondered if it's just me!
