Well, I think you should be braver and make the photos, without knowing the language. Poland may be a bit of a fucked up country, but not that weird, people don't care about photos much. Anyway, my opinion on candid's is a bit strict (as WIRs) many people think that posting fully-clothed candid's without asking for permition is OKay to, so you shouldn't worry about that part so much IMHO. Anyway, if you ever are in Poland, and the temperature is abouve 22 (not 27 like in Warsaw), head for Gdynia and the always crowded Central (or Downtown) Beach (Plaza Srodmiescie or Plaża Śródmieście with polish letters - don't know if they work). As it is write in the city center, next to a park, a cinema, a club, most tourist atractions, the Gemini Mall etc. there is almost always action, fully clothed and even at lower temperatures. Well, and the waves do their part, many girls want to get only a little wet, but... :-). IMHO Gdynia is Poland's only real good place for Wetlook. Warsaw's fountains score just about average, so do the small tourist see-side cities on the Hel peninsula and elsewhere (to many swimsuits), but the Downtown Beach in Gdynia is superb. If I could afford a hotel for three months I would stay the whole vacation there :-D

During that same heatwave I took my camera to Arkadia's fountain once. There was a group of young people that sat behind me and were going by me to push each other into the spray. I could have gotten a few shots-- but I was chicken. Then another guy showed up with a better camera than mine, started taking general shots of the children in the water. So I suppose I could have 'joined' him in his picture taking, but I still felt obvious. Oh, well, the young people never really got drenched, and anyway it was late afternoon and cooling down already, forum readers didn't miss much. But it made me wonder if I'd have been braver if I could speak their language and been able to ask their permission? Maybe I could have offered to send them the pictures, or post them where they could download them.

I think we like candid because it's a way of vicariously being there. It's hard to get to a fountain when the action is good, so the candid shots are a second best. No, third best, we'd rather participate-- and it's hard to do that with a camera to take care of!

So I didn't take it the next time-- and had oodles more fun... :)

Well yes, you are right, that's a drawback for candid. IMHO the people should know they are beeing photographed. No hidden cameras. Anyway I've been too Warsaw's biggsest fountain during the hieatwave in late may and many people were with cameras. They where making photos of people in swimsuits, wetlook, even ducks (depending on which photographer), quite clearly, among them a television crew was filming and where some press reportes. Nobody protested, nobody even said a thing. But I think those photos are not stuff I can put on the net. Reason? Well, the people knew they were photographed by some reporters and some people probobly just for the fun. However many might have not agreed (okay, maybe not many, maybe just a few) if they knew they were going to be on a website linked from a fetish forum, along with some candid, some proffesional and even some semi-nude other links. And that is why I think I cannot post such photos...

...in that I do think it's an invasion of privacy if the subjects have no idea that they r being photographed. However, Candid filming in a group of ppl, when they know they're being photographed, and would be posted on a website, would be acceptable. The stuff that wet Brian and Leon do in a candid situation, know they're being photographed. And I do like both scenarios, but lean more toward the professional, more erotic side of wetlook.
