Thank you.  Your work is truly brilliant.  The model's clothing is perfect; casual and natural.  I assume that you provide some and the models provide some of their own.  Your success is due as much to the way you put the girls at ease and natural, as it is with your technical skill.  We stand in awe.

Those are all good questions. The pay ranges between $25 and $75 per hour, depending on the model's experience and hourly rate. I'd say most are amateurs or part-time models, but I do work with some who are actually succeeding as full-time models, as difficult as that is. Most shoots run 3 to 4 hours on location--which is long enough to wear out both model and photographer. I am always scouting locations--and although I did do some studio work this past year, I much prefer the outdoors. Usually, we're in secluded locations, but occasionally onlookers become an issue. In a local fishing lake, guys would sometimes drop anchor within sight, but the models haven't been thrown by that. At a low-water bridge on a creek, the infrequent travelers would certainly look puzzled as they drove by, but none have ever stopped. On a beach at a nearby lake, we started shooting when nobody was around. Later, several people arrived and went about their business generally as if we weren't there, which was pretty amazing, as the model was wet in a clinging yellow dress wearing nothing at all underneath. And then later she was wearing jeans and a very thin, white t-shirt that was as revealing as being topless. Some teenage guys asked if we were shooting for Sports Illustrated. The model wasn't the least fazed by any of this.

Only once at a low water bridge on a southern Missouri creek did I have any real problems. Three punks were shouting out rude comments from a distance. I hadn't even taken notice, but the model's husband told them to shut the fuck up. Later when we moved down the creek and out of sight, they punctured two tires on his truck.

Thank you for the insight into your brilliant work.  Just curious... how much do you pay your models?  And for how long are you out on a shoot?  Are they mostly local professionals or are they amatuers?  Your locations are great.  Do you have a problem with onlookers?  Sorry to be so inquisitive, but you must know we are all facinated by your work.

After a recent four-hour wetlook shoot in which I took about 1500 individual shots, I was wondering how we managed before digital cameras, low cost CF cards, computers with 200 GB of storage, Photoshop, the Internet, and, of course, the Wetlook World Forum. That many shots would be about 60 rolls of film. Processing all that color film in a darkroom? Not me! Dealing with a photo lab? Don't have that much money! And at that, the quality wouldn't be close to what is possible with a bit of Photoshop magic. And then, who's the audience?

Also, a recent reply to one of my postings asked how I get the gals to do what they do for me. For years, I thought about producing wetlook work, but thought it would be difficult to find models willing to do this. What wasted years of waiting!

I finally discovered a local model who had a wet-dress shot in her OMP portfolio. I was still too chicken to ask her to do an all-wetlook shoot, but did comment that I thought the wet dress was a nice shot. We arranged a "normal" shoot at a local fountain. She arrived with a girlfriend who had just come along. After a few dry shots, I asked her to get into the fountain, and then to get progressively more and more wet until she was totally soaked in a white blouse (with bra) and miniskirt. I couldn't believe it. The next outfit was a gray, tight, longsleeve jersey and very tight jeans. Without instructions from me, she had discarded the bra, and got in the water without hesitation. While not see-through, the top was wonderfully clingy when wet. My hands were shaking almost too much to keep the camera still.

During the shooting of the third outfit, her girlfriend spontaneously jumped in the fountain and playfully tacked her friend, with both going in the water. Her friend had on a thin pair of tan slacks and a blue tank top. They both looked great. Both continued to model for me for the rest of the afternoon and were back two weeks later for another shoot. After the first shoot, we were all starving and all of us were still wet. Even so, we went to a casual sitdown restaurant and walked in still visibly damp clothing.

Since then, I have asked many models about their interest in shooting, never referring directly to wetlook, but always referring them to my OMP site where it is obvious what is planned. I'd say about 20 percent of the inquiries ultimately result in a shoot. Nobody has ever said it was "weird," (to my face), and all have been willing to do multiple shoots. I'd say about a third of them have been unwilling to do completely see-through shots, while a third are open to total transparency. All have been willing to go braless in some form or another. I don't think any of the models I've shot with have ever done nude work elsewhere, and that's why I get a more "girl next door" look to my work.

The shoots themselves are fun. Most models know that these shots are whimsical and carefree, and they project that feeling in their movements and expressions. I don't date the models or make suggestive comments of any type. I have impeccible references. I have had their mothers along as an escort, including one who was quite encouraging of some of the more revealing, skimpier outfits we used.

So you see, there's really no magic here. Just the willingness to get one's feet wet! (which I mean literally, as I've had more than one model express surprise and admiration that I get in the lake/fountain/creek with them in my jeans and t-shirt, making the wetlook experience mutual).
