Until this evening I was unable to get in touch with Sharon's mum as she has been at the hospital most of the time.

I finally spoke to her this evening.

Without the cyst bursting the operation would have been straightforward, it was the danger of infection from peritonitis that made it dangerous.

Amazingly there was no infection from the burst (as an ex-student-nurse I can say that this is very unusual) and the operation went extremely well.

They were so pleased with her recovery that instead of keeping her in as they had planned, they allowed her mother to take her home this evening.

I've forwarded every one of your comments here, in other forums and by email / IM, to her mum who will finally have time to get to read them and to read them to her!
