As Leon has said, here in the UK the vast majority of girls in their late teens and early 20s are wearing jeans morning, noon and night. They probably wear them in bed as well for all I know! It's almost like a uniform, particularly as they always tend to be worn in combination with samey sleeveless tops. There's so little individuality in people these days - those in their teens and 20s just wants to dress the same and look the same and, bizarrely, it's left to the 30 somethings and older to experiment with things a little. It's seriously boring and unimaginative, but I really can't see what's going to change things. I'm surprised that the "trendy" women's High Street clothes shops haven't given up trying to sell skirts and just have wall to wall jeans and crop tops for sale, because that's all that young women seem to want to buy! They basically wear the same clothes all year round!
Tiered, full skirts are supposed to be in fashion here at present, and there are plenty to be had in the various clothes shops, but you hardly see anyone wearing them!
Let's hope that something happens to change things (e.g. women start to think that it's cool to have some individuality when it comes to clothes), but I fear that it's only going to get worse..... |
In reply to Message (14866) Dresses vs. Pants
By Robbi - Thu 03/03/05 03:05:25 GMT I suppose, that many english men prefere skirts and dresses, as most ladies wear them in England. The same with Japaneese, for instance. For them it is women's attire. For people from other countries pants are as much women's attire as skirts are. I saw EuroWAM TEAM's first tapes on which the girls wore tight stretch- pants or leggings. For me this is the most female attire I can imagine! I went to a british barracks last week end as my friend promoted her new book in the shopping center right in the middle of the military area. All the wifes of the british soldiers used to go shopping there. I noticed, that quite a lot of them wore dresses and even mini-skirts - even though it was pretty cold. I think that much more british ladies wear skirts than germans do, for instance. And british men seem to be used to it. In german discos, most girls wear tight pants of any kind (not only jeans). This is my kinda "women's attire" and the best a girl can wear in the water. And I don't think, that tight stretch pants are typical male attire ;o) I think, that more girls in british discos wear skirts. Am I wrong, or is it a matter of where people come from? That would be very interesting to investigate.
