I've worked with about 20 models now and only one seemed to be ambivalent about getting wet fully clothed. I don't do much coaching, so what you are seeing is the model's own reaction to the circumstances, and I think the shots tend to reflect their own personalities. That is part of what makes a shoot fun--to see what the model wants to do.
Mainly, my models have a very professional attitude. I've had several shoots where the weather didn't cooperate, and it turned out to be just too cold to be wet for several consecutive hours. I had one whose teeth were chattering so hard that I stopped the shoot, but she would have never given in to the pain. The model that Frankie complimented in the tan slacks was freezing in that shoot--the day was marginally warm but the wind was howling at 25 mph. I thought it was going to blow both of us over into the water, which was okay for her, but not for me and my camera. But she got fully drenched--hair and all--without a word of complaint.
The other aspect of these shoots that surprises me is that the models aren't bothered by other people nearby. I usually succeed in finding a private place to shoot, but sometimes those plans are foiled. Every model I have ever shot with has been willing to get a tight top wet while going braless, and as you can see by the work, some of the outfits become very revealing. At one shoot, we started out with an empty beach at a local lake, but after a bit, several people showed up. My model wasn't fazed at all by the audience. She was wearing a pair of jeans and a very tight, white T shirt that went completely transparent and was plastered to her body when wet. When I asked her to wear the outfit, I was prepared for her to say it was too revealing on this public beach, but she didn't say a word. And it didn't cause a stir among the people at the beach. A teenage boy came and asked me if I was shooting for Sports Illustrated!
At one shoot, the model brought her cute friend who, after watching the shoot for a while, asked my permission to jump in the fountain and tackle her friend, the model. I gave it. She was wearing thin slacks and a blue tank top, and when they were through wrestling, of course she was soaking wet. The slacks had gone transparent, as had her beige panties underneath. She then joined in the remainder of the shoot. When we finished the shoot, all three of us were in wet clothing, but that didn't stop us from getting a hamburger at a local joint, sitting in a booth in clothing that was more than a bit damp.
I've done a few shoots where the model was escorted by her mother. You would think that would make them more modest, but on all occasions, the mom seemed very approving of the sexiest outfits.
My conclusion is that models like this kind of work. I think they know getting wet makes them look great, and I think they appreciate the freedom to be themselves. I think that is why the final product shows them to be having fun. I have yet to be turned down for a requested encore performance. |

In reply to Message (14556) Valentine's Day Special
By Stormy Waters - Sun 13/02/05 12:13:23 GMT I'll soon post a Valentine's Day Special for those of you in this great forum. It'll have a theme. Any guesses? (And you won't get any credit for a guess of 'wet women').
