When I do shots in the bathtub, I use a 1000 watt quartz-halogen flood light bounced off the (white) ceiling to eliminate (or at least minimize) those distracting shadows caused by the direct flash.  Quartz studio lights are easier for the camera to 'balance out' than fluorescent lights.

What software are you using to edit the pictures?  Many folks (myself included) use Photoshop, but JASC's Paint Shop Pro 8 or 9 as well as Adobe Photoshop elements offer much the same 'control' at a much more reasonable price.

I'd be very interested in your opinions/advice as an experienced photographer with regard to technique or technical aspects of photography. Please bear in mind that I am using what I suppose you'd call high-end consumer equipment - a Canon Powershot A95 - basically a snapshot camera (non-SLR, integrated flash, non-removable lens, no hot shoe) with some professional-style manual override capabilities. I haven't bought any lighting yet. One suggestion I've been given is a fluorescent studio light to soften some of the shadows and balance the backgrounds without affecting overall color temperature. Any thoughts?
