There is a cable network called "Encore WAM". Not sure what is on it, since I don't have digital cable or any premium channels, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with wetlook.

We all know that CBS usually refers to a tv network (Columbia Broadcasting System), but here in Bakersfield there is a company called Coffee Brewing Service!  TMC is usually The Movie Channel, but I also heard of a TeleMarketing Concepts!  When you trademark an ancronym, it onlt inclused use within the same industry. Therefore, no media related company could call itself CBS, but a coffee company can.

Good Point.  To illustrate, a civics group held WAMfest at a park near where I live once.  Since they meant "Women's Arts and Music Fest", the dunktank, pie toss, and mud volleyball tournament were notably absent from the festival Sad

Even though we all know what WAM is, unfortunately in the greater global context, WAM is simply another TLA (three-letter acronym) which can mean any of countless different things to different special-interest groups.

For example: Most of us (especially in the computer field) know that "ROM" means "read-only memory", but those of us familiar with Toronto also know that "ROM" is an abbreviation for the "Royal Ontario Museum".

My point: no matter what keyword or acronym you try to come up with, there's a pretty good chance someone else has already put it use for some other meaning. We've already got WAM and wetlook; for better or worse, we might as well keep to them. Unfortunately, it doesn't help in the awareness and education of non-wammers, but that's a whole other matter.

...and the word is   ????

...great...ok...so what is it....

....and how you can create such a word that is not going to be associated with "water sports"....either of the professional sporting sites like water skiiing or swimming or water polo...or other sites that are related to enemas, urination and scat.

Unfortunately, there is no search engine that is smart enough to define what we want. We cannot use terms like "wet girls"...cos the word "wet" is a word that is hijacked by the porn industry.

FYI....10 years ago...Rob Blaine I already coined the term called "WAM"...which we used a a prefix for all our postings on Rob's old newsgroup. The newsgroups were being flooded with spam...and 90% of the postings were irrelevant...so we coined the term "WAM" to be used a prefix for message postings...so that folks could program their newsreader softwares to only read WAM postings and to filter out or exclude all non-Wam postings.

Now you don't have to worry about irrelevant postings any more...cos Nigel does a great job of monitoring this forum and Graham and his team of moderators do a fine job to make sure that only relevant postings are on their forum.

So...now that both forums are very well managed and almost all postings are relevant (and non relevant postings get killed real quickly)...what would you need a new term for. All the folks who go to these forums know where to find things. It is only the MAINSTREAM search engines like Google that cannot distinguish between the kind of water sports we want...as opposed to other kinds of water sports that are not what we want. It's not the wam producers who would have to define things...cos they already define their stuff very well...it would be the MAINSTREAM who would need to comply with your wordings...and we have no chance they will ever do that.

This the way people should find exactely what they want, and I think that webmasters, links managers, pictures, videos and stories editors should use this new word, to best fit people preferences. Don't you think so ? Isn't this a good idea ?
