Shooting for over 20 years now. Have gone through 5 digital cameras, three of them being Canon digital SLR.
What do you want 12 MP for? Honestly, my current SLR does 8 MP, and for the web I switch it to lower resolution - it does not make too much sense to downsize.
If you want full control, SLR is required. If you are creative and do not need to dig too deep, compacts are OK as well.
My advice: in case of Web, better spare some money, go for 6 or 8 MP, get a good lens (can easily cost as much as the camera) and especially good flash equipment, and spare some money to pay the girls.
If you wish to do paper work - that is another story.
All the best, FPn |

By AnthonyX - anthonyx@jowc.net Mon 01/11/04 17:23:24 GMT A woman friend of mine is intrigued by wetlook and wants to model for me (my first wetlook shoot!), so I am all of a sudden researching/shopping for my first digital camera.
My fundamental question: how good is good enough?
I know that you need at least 12 megapixel resolution to equal the resolution of 35mm film (my benchmark), but that still seems to be in the realm of rather pricey pro gear. Unfortunately, I'm more or less budget-limited to consumer-grade equipment.
What are folks using these days (brands, megapixels) and what sort of results are they getting (any samples I could look at)?
