..continuing on with the same theme...the annual "Celebrity Pool Toss" is being held again this year at the Phoenix Hotel pool in San Francisco ...on monday October 18th.

The prior year photo galleries do not really show you much...but in past years such celebrities as Robin Williams and ice skater Kristi Yamaguchu have attended...and they normally have the 49ers cheerleaders at pool side too. people make charity bids...to see local celebrities jump into the pool. Some are in evening wear...others are in goofy fancy dress.

You do not have to be a financial sponsor to attend....you can get a ticket to be a spectator too. The tickets are kinda pricey ($100) ...but the goods news is

a) the public ARE permitted to take pictures and bring in video cameras and you can film the events...and

b) for anybody who wishes to attend...I am willing to pay for your ticket + gasoline, parking and dinner....if you send me a copy of your camcorder tape (not stills)...so email me if you want to go.

Sounds like a great idea! Of course, in my opinion, bosses should always turn out for such events in complete, formal business wear (especially the female bosses).

It's the sort of thing any office or mid-sized company could do anywhere, without the help of a local media outlet (radio station, etc.), and it could be either a pool or a dunk tank.

The Hamburg radio station "Radio Hamburg" has organized this game for a while now: Employees can nominate their boss; the boss then has to show up at a local swimming pool. Standing on the diving board fully clothed a radio hosts asks three questions - if the boss gets them right, he/she wins something for the team, if not it's time to jump. They repeat this every few weeks. To check for updates go to www.radiohamburg.de and look for current stories on the right hand side under "Web-Reporter", typically titled something like "Cheffe versenken" (a German pun on "dunk your boss" and "battleship (the game)".

Oh, and if you live in Hamburg go nominate your boss or yourself :-)
