Thats a common problem with all capture programs and digital cameras...they assign the same file names by default every time you use the camera or capture card...unless you go thru lots of renaming procedures.
The simple solution is not to bust a gut trying to worry what filenames a camera or capture program assigns...just use a unique FOLDER for each batch you create. Then..all you gotta do is use a program like THUMBS PLUS to make contact sheets for you, and you assign the file names when you generate the contact sheets later on.
This avoids you have numerous files all called DSCxxxx etc.

If you go to the above like there are quite a few freeware program out there that can do all this in just a couple of clicks, eg you could put the date on the start of each file name etc.. Just an idea!
