It’s good to see well thought out dictionary entries like this that could help make Wetlook known to a wider audience. If anyone comes across an on-line dictionary or glossary of slang terms that is missing the word “Wetlook”, it is worth submitting an entry. I did this a short while ago to a dictionary of slang and the compiler wrote back to say that he thought he was going to enjoy doing the research into this subject!

The Wordiq definition here contains two main points: the way the clothes alter in appearance and cling to the skin, and that it is a mildly non-conformant activity. However, a third main point is worth inserting; that wet clothing also creates unique and pleasant sensations on the body.

During clothed bathing, the clothing that is underwater tends to float and move gently over the skin, giving a “stroking” or “massage” sensation, whilst the remainder above the water slowly soaks up the water creating a clinging feeling, which is in its own way, arousing. Furthermore, feeling wet clothing on a partner whether in the water or out, can be very exciting.

Sadly, the average person’s experience of wet clothing is often limited to dampness from rain, sweat or being on the wrong end of a water pistol, which is considerably less enjoyable than proper clothed bathing, ideally with an opposite gender partner. As a result most people would not understand the appeal of Wetlook, but probably would if given the right set of circumstances.

I am still trying to figure out how to submit a sentence about the sensation aspect to the online dictionary; at the moment, I am just going round in circles. If anyone else manages to figure out how to submit an addition and agree with what I say above, could they do that?

Wetlook refers to activities where people get wet while wearing clothing and have fun in doing so. It is a sexual fetish. For example, wetlook could involve swimming in clothes, taking a shower, etc. Although it may seem to be a strange thing at the first glance, there are quite a lot of people who like it. There are many sites dedicated to Wetlook on the Internet.

The phrase "to each his own" applies to Wetlook. Different people prefer to get wet in different kinds of clothing and in different places. In most cases, however, there are two reasons why people like to do this. First, wet clothes change their shape and color, stick to the body and become shiny or transparent, thereby partly revealing the body shape, but still covering it, which some people find erotic and teasing. Second, swimming in clothes is definitely somewhat nonconformant. By doing so, people express pleasant feeling of freedom and openness.

Some people like to cover or immerse themselves in other substances, such as mud, oil, paint, etc., usually also in clothes. These activities are called wet and messy (WAM).
