yeah...I really don't get why girls do that either....i.e. why bother to raise the skirt...when they are going to get it wet eventually anyway.

thats like one of my pet peeves and things I hate about the modern fashion girls now have of wearing a pair of shorts underneath a skirt...whats the point in that...if you are going to wear shorts...why bother to put a skirt on top of it...thats clothing redundancy.

You don't see men putting on 2 pairs of socks when they go off to work...ha ha...

mind you...we men are guilty of "redundant clothing" habits too"...i.e. you have to chuckle when you see big old guys who wear a belt to hold their pants up..and then ALSO have a pair of suspenders (braces) as a secondary measure to hold them up too. Whats the point in that...is your gut that big that the belt cannot hold your pants up...so you need a secondary device of suspenders added as well...ha ha

An additional thought. Many girls seem to observe the "moth and the flame" approach to wetting, either when they roll up their pants (OK), or when they lift their skirts (much better). Sometimes it's a dare from a companion; sometimes encouragement from the photographer(me); and sometimes it seems to be a self-generated dare. "How close can I come to getting wet without getting wet?" There have been some disappointments, when a minimal wetting causes a retreat (bad). But in other, more delightful moments, as the waterline advances, so does the girl.(Great). This provides an oppoortunity for the optional line, "You're a little wet now, just a little more won't hurt," or something similar. It usually works.

I have one delightful camcorder sequence in which, as a girl waded into the water, she hiked up her skirt more and more, displaying her brief black panties. Unashamed, she waded deeper and deeper, and her panties began to get wet, but her skirt stayed dry...she didn't care. Finally, and I am NOT kidding here, she was waist deep, with her panties now totally submerged, her belly-button awash, but her skirt, now high above her waist was, unbelievably, still dry! It was really a sexy sight and she seemed not be be embarassed by the display in the slightest - she was having fun without being an obvious exhibitionist!

Finally, with a grin, she released her hem and let her skirt float about her waist. Really a great sequence. I may release it some day soon.

Thats a phenomina that both relates to jeans or dresses...and something that many wet fans find very appealing. Sopping has already discussed this in the past as it relates to dresses....i.e. there is a sense of naughtiness or playfulness...when a girl wades into the ocean...but grabs her skirt or dress to try to avoid getting it wet....or rolls up her jeans etc. The girl eventually gets totally wet anyway...so why did they bother to grab their skirt or dress and lift it in the first place...when they eventually decided they were going to get totally immersed anyway.

Sopping's photos from the 1960's portray that sense of playfulness too.

I guess it must be like the "stripper syndrome"...i.e. whats the excitement in having a stripper walk out on stage and dropping all her clothes in 10 seconds flat. Most modern day strippers have no clue how to portray the true artforms of striptease....perfected by the likes of Gypsy Rose Lee in the 1940's etc. The art of the tease is what it is all about...and lifting one's skirt when entering the water (or rolling up the jeans) merely holds your attention a lot longer...i.e. "will she or won't she"...eventually immerse.

Same thing applies to how one enters the water...i.e. for me...it does nothing for me if a girl runs at high speed into the water....fast wettings or instant dunkings are not that interesting to me. Wetfan and others have mastered the art of the slow wetting....

How many times have you watched a girl at a beach...who enters the water not once....but maybe 10 times...and each time she only goes in for a paddle...and then retreats without getting fully wet...and only eventually gets wet after 8 or 10 trips to the water's edge.

Ahh....the wonders of a mis-spent youth....I spent too much time hanging around at UK beaches in the 1970's.
