By AnthonyX - anthonyx@jowc.net Fri 29/11/02 19:03:39 GMT I suspect it may have been a bandwidth issue... yet again.
"Mint"'s last update included a video clip greeting placed on what I'd have to consider a "high-traffic" page. I can't help thinking that with Kat being such a pleasing lady to look at, his greeting clip got a very large number of hits in a very short time, and the bandwidth consumption it surely created must have come to the attention of his provider. I'm guessing the clip in question was probably about 1MB... multiply that by perhaps 1,000 visitors to his site over the span of a few hours (not an unreasonable number), and that's 1GB in one day... would probably get the attention of any provider of low-cost services.
Important survival tip for anyone hosting web content:
Think very carefully about the amount of bandwidth your site content is likely to generate relative to your provider's expectations/commitment. Volumes can add up very quickly!
