The Lycos websites, like a lot of free servers, only allow so much bandwidth usage. When a site gets a lot of traffic, they shut it down for a while, maybe til the next day, limiting bandwidth usage for popular pages. I guess there are too many people who read these postings and then flood these small sites that just can't handle the traffic.
