Maybe you are right... But then again it's not the first time (it is the first time this happened to me, but some time ago there was a discussion about this - I think on the Bravenet forum). The problem with WL producers maybe not selling, but for example, writing mails to many people with all the adresses visible... In this business (by some concidered a thin line from erotic) they should be more careful... I think... :-).

By w@mboy - Tue 21/10/03 06:44:18 GMT Someone may have used your address (maybe even by accident) to sign up to something, or some spam bot has randomly generated a load of @o2.pl accounts to see if it can find a few ones that exist. To put your mind at rest, I can't see that a wetlook producer would have enough addresses to sell to anyone, people sell lists of millions of e-mail adresses, not just a few hundred. The billing companies will obviously have a lot more adresses, but they aren't really anything to do with the wetlook community.

By Mike - mahony5120@webpim.at Tue 21/10/03 05:53:00 GMT To Graham: No I wan't talking about Styx. I used my old adress while talking to you some time ago and had no problems after that.
To w@mboy: The problem is it never appeared online. I aleways use the one on webpim.at on forums. My email service is half free (basic features, for the others you pay by sending an SMS) and it's not them for sure because: a) all my friends have emails there and do not have problems. b) the spam is american and also written towards americans, and would be polish if o2 sold my adress.

By w@mboy - Tue 21/10/03 04:31:11 GMT Has that e-mail address ever appeared online, like if you have posted to a forum or someone else has put it online? If it has, or it might have been, then that is likely to be how it is getting spammed. Also if it is a free e-mail account then the people who run free e-mail servers do sell addresses to spammers, that's how they make money.

By Graham (UK) - graham@styxwetworld.com Tue 21/10/03 04:07:04 GMT If the "ccbill" wetlook producer you spoke to was Styx, I can 100% guarantee that we sell no email addresses to anyone. Nor do we spam or send emails to our own customers unless there is a problem with an account and we need to speak to them.
Hopefully that narrows down your search for you? Graham |
In reply to Message (6511) SPAM thanks to Wetlook!!!
By Mike - mahony5120@webpim.at Tue 21/10/03 03:29:04 GMT I have joined a couple wetlook sites using VEROTEL and IBILL, have tried to join one through CCBILL (but told me that I can't from POLAND) and talked to to some three wetlook producers from the forum. And now my mailbox is flooded by porno-like spam. This doesn't happen "for no reason" on polish servers like it does on some international (I am talking about my account on O2.pl not the special wetlook one - shown above).
SO I ASK, WHO IS SELLING E-MAIL ADRESSES TO SPAM SENDERS? IS IT A BILLING COMPANY OR A WETLOOK SITE / PRODUCER? IF THE FOLLOWING - I HAVE JUST ONE THING TO SAY - YOU ARE COMPLETLY F***ED UP MAN!!! DOING SUCH THINGS IN SUCH A SMALL COMMUNITY IS UNBELIEVEBLE. VERY SAD, WHAT PEOPLE WILL DO FOR MONEY...
