Firstly you will need to convert your avi's into MPEG2, for which you will need an encoder. AVI's won't play in a domestic DVD player only a computer- although I've heard that there is a DivX machine just on the market.
Then you need a piece of software that will allow you to author the DVD (put in chapter marks and headers, etc)
You can get different pieces of software to different aspects, but often you can have problems when things don't "join up"
I've heard that Ulead's DVD Movie Factory is quite good for a PC- but I haven't used it as I author on an Apple and use Final Cut, etc.
Apparently the Ulead set up can create a DVD virtually direct from a camcorder without transcoding into AVI first. |

In reply to Message (5706) DVD burner software
By Ross - xross1@hotmail.com Fri 05/09/03 01:15:50 GMT Hi folks,
I finally broke down and bought a DVD burner.
What's a good DVD software program? The one that came with it is the shits. (It's called NeoDVD. It's OK for making data DVD but no good for video DVD. I have all my files stored as avi files and want to copy it so it will play as a DVD.
Thanks, Ross.
