1) thats right...on minidv and digital8 cams...you cannot see a clean image when scanning...it breaks up into pixelized boxes...thats normal.
2) I have 2 digital8 cams and they are no noisier than normal.
3) digital8 is 500 line resolution (Hi-8 is 400 lines) but if you are using composite av cables to hook to the tv you will not experience the full quality. A better way to hook to the tv is to use the s-video cable (if your tv has an s video input terminal).

In reply to Message (2377) Questions for Sony Digital8 Users
By Getwet - Fri 21/02/03 04:42:23 GMT Hi all, Just bought and brought home a new Sony Digital8 TRV350. New to digital and used to my old Hi8 that died.
Is it normal when viewing a tape in the camcorder in the VCR mode for the pic to breakup when scanning forward or reverse when viewing a tape?
Also, there's quite a bit of noise of the motor/gears when recording or playing back a tape. This normal for this type camcorder being small. Use to my "full" size Hi8 I had.
Also, did a test shot outdoors and played back on the TV and didn't think the image quality matched my Hi8. Could be due to a very cloudy overcast day it is, plus the standard audio/video connects I used to the TV.
Anything on this from those that shot with a Digital 8. Bought this thing with the hopes of shooting some wetlook this summer.
Many thanks! Getwet
